A Piece Of My Heart

A Piece Of My Heart

I have always been one to have ideas...I would wake up with an idea and want to act on it, but I had a friend tell me once that ideas were like pennies.  Shiny pennies are distractions as we stop to pick them up, but they are only worth more than a penny if you choose to do something with it.  So when my idea to start eclectic array came about, it was nothing more than a penny.  My love for Mexico, design, fashion, business and creating unique concepts has been part of me for a long time - but I have experienced extraordinary joy by all of these loves coming together into this concept.  I feel incredible blessed to have my shiny penny turn into so much more, not just for me, but for the artisans across Mexico that we work with and support, for the tourists that find our place a treasure and the locals that are excited to now have a store like ours.

You always hear people say to do what you love and you will never feel like you work a day in your life...and while it is a lot of "work" I am honored to have found that in my life.

About 4 years ago I was talking to a friend of mine in Dallas that was a life coach.  She asked me if I could do ANYTHING, what would that be.  I told her, of course if I could do anything I would travel and be a philanthropist.  But really, what is a philanthropist?  In my mind it was someone that had a lot of money that could go around and be Santa Claus giving out money to worthy causes and encouraging others that wanted more.  But in the end, what I realized was that I could be exactly that.  I could be an entrepreneurial philanthropist.  I could grow a business that helped others do so much more than they could do on their own.  As Helen Keller said "Alone we can do so little, but together we can do so much".

This journey is just embarking and I am so excited for all the ideas and everything we have coming our way.  In addition to currently seeking a location in San Jose del Cabo for our next store, and looking for pet boutiques and fun stores in the US to retail our dog collars, and growing our website products each week... I look forward to blogging and sharing our artisan's stories.  I want you to know them and their beautiful work, just as I do.

I can only hope that you will become part of the Eclectic Array family, whether it is as a friend, a customer, or a supporter.  We need each of you as we work to change the world one artisan at a time.
