Eclectic Array Gives Back

Eclectic Array Gives Back

For as long as I can remember I have spent Christmas going into the barrio with my family here in Cabo and taking gifts at Christmas for children. In a world filled with so much stuff and consumerism this time of year, it was hard to believe that some of the children we were giving gifts to were not going to get anything for Christmas other than what we were giving them. To see their little faces light up as we showed up with Santa and his big bag of gifts to hand them each a wrapped gift was so special.

Every year it has gotten a little bigger in some way. What started out as a collection of a few suitcases full of toys, coloring books, and some necessities that we brought from the dollar store in the US and was passed it out as we drove through the one of the barrios deep in Cabo, has turned into going to several homes and having "Santa", aka my brother, pass out wrapped gifts that were on the sweet children's Christmas lists.

Of all the Christmas' last year was really special. We were able to go to a neighborhood in the barrio with gifts for each and EVERY child that lived in that neighborhood. When the sun went down, Santa called out each child by name and gave them a gift that was picked out for that little boy or girl according to their age. It was amazing to see the community come together in generosity to put a smile on a child's face. The hugs they gave to Santa and the memories that were created that night were magical. Not only will that little boy or girl remember that night forever, but I will too.

This year we will do it again by supplying gifts from a percentage of the proceeds of our sales in the store. And this year, we invite you to participate in the giving with us. We would like to include anyone that would like to generously bring an unwrapped toy for a boy or girl in exchange for a picture with Sparrow the Reindeer or Santa Claus (or bring your pup in to get a picture with Santa Paws)!

Tis the season for giving, and in the process remember when we give, sometimes the best gift is the one we receive in the process of doing good for others. Together we can make a difference in the lives of others.

Join me in celebrating the reason for the season, and give a gift to another...someone that isn't yet on your list, but will surely be grateful!

xoxo
