While most people enjoy going to the beach, not everyone enjoys trying on swimwear or buying new swimwear, but once you are introduced to Paola, the designer and founder of Ray Swimwear, your feelings are sure to change.
We had the opportunity to ask Paola about Ray Swimwear, how she got started and more to give you insight into another amazing designer we support and promote and Eclectic Array.
How Ray Swimwear Got Started
Paola got started creating swimwear after a trip to Australia 6 years ago. After a trip to the Gold Coast, one of her best friends was living and studying over there, she fell in love with the surf town, Coolangatta. Everybody was surfing all day and hanging at the beach with amazing swimwear and that was the moment Paola fell in love with the sea.
She was learning everything about swimwear, started surfing and living in a small surf town - just like she had always wanted, and a year later she started her own line, Ray Swimwear. She says there is something about the sea that keeps her inspired everyday so she wanted to use a name represented that connection. Paola came up with Ray because it reminded her of rays of sun, or the sting rays in the ocean - She said "I think it really suits my swimwear".
Paola & Her Vision
Paola likes creating designs for those that love the ocean and love playing in it like me! Swimming, surfing or even just hanging at the beach. In her free time, she loves surfing and nature, drinking coffee and spending time with her friends. She loves to travel and feels that it is really important so you can see new things to keep you inspired.
I asked her for a fun fact she would share and she told us that she is clumsy, always tripping on things and forgetting stuff. She said, "I think this quality has helped me to develop my brand and my style, and to remember to keep smiling at every situation and always do what you love and have fun!"
Paola is proud to be Mexican, and loves adding Mexican details to Ray Swimwear. And because it was so hard for her to buy swimwear since sizes didn't fit her well, she loves the idea of customizing your suit - you can order a piece with the color you like and mix and match for your size so it can fit perfect. I think most of us feel that way, it isn't common for women to be the same size on top and bottom so we loved that she offers the options of various sizes for tops and bottoms.
After sewing for three years now, Paola says she truly loves what she does and that it is all about having passion and dedication, and most importantly, to always keep chasing your dreams. Her vision for Ray Swimwear is that each piece is made fairly and can help the environment as much as possible.
