This clutch uses the traditional Otomí embroidery textile from the indigenous community of Tenango de Doria, Hidalgo. Through the needle and thread, highly skilled women artisans draw their understanding of the world, they lay their identity in each color and each shape. This is why each piece is very special and unique.
These clutch bags are 100% handmade. It takes up to a month for the artisans to hand stitch the embroidery of the clutches.

This traditional textile comes all the way up from the Sierra Madre Oriental Mountains in the state of Hidalgo, right up North of Mexico City. Where men are typically the ones that free-hand draw the designs onto the raw textile or off-white fabric that is then embroidered by the women. The figures are typical stories or representations or life that have been taught to generations.
This purchase supports a Mexican community of Artisans providing economic opportunities for their families while ensuring traditions are kept alive.
